Mission Imposible

About Mission Impossible

New in Septrember 2009, Crumball Rally’s “Mission Impossible”, was a banger rally very loosely themed on the films of the Tom Cruise secret agent Ethan Hunt.

But it wasn’t just about coaxing your £200 car fifteen hundred miles across some of Europe’s toughest and most scenic roads, as there were the usual “light hearted” daily tasks, and plenty of opportunity for eating, drinking and socialising away the evenings.

Mission Impossible Route

The route passes through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany onto the final destination of Prague, the fabulous city epitomised in the first of the “MI” films.

Aside from the fine scenery offered by alpine mountains and lakes, we followed the medieval cultural route in Southern Germany, which includes the magical Neuschwanstein (the inspiration for Walt Disney’s fantasy Disneyland castle), and of course we threw in the usual “hurdles”, in order to make completing the event at least a “Mission Improbable”, including the challenge of Top Gear’s “World’s best driving road”, the legendary “Stelvio Pass”.

Day 1: Reims to Chur (Approximately 500 miles)

We all meet in a large car park on the outskirts of Reims at 8.30am. The first days route takes us through the gentle rolling countryside of the Champagne and Alsace regions of France before heading into the Swiss Alpine mountains to the picturesque city of Chur.

Day 2: Chur to Fussen (Approximately 300 miles)

Today we set out straight into a series of mountain passes, culminating in the awesome Stelvio Pass. Once your brakes (and nerves) have recovered we’ll then be heading north again through Austria onto the lakeside German town of Fussen.

Day 3: Fussen to Prague (Approximately 300 miles)

Starting in Fussen, with the backdrop of the Neuschwanstein castle, the route winds its way to the medieval city of Regensburg, before heading over the Czech border onto Prague, for the final party and awards ceremony!
